Hey Daniele,

thanks for all the hardwork. Your passion inspires me. Like you, I would never have bought a non Zeiss lens, or an unknown brand at that.

I have a Zeiss 28mm f2 ZF and use it on a hacked GH2. I have a zeiss 50 f1.4 as well. Alot times, I get by with these two lenses, but from time to time, I find myself scouring for a 35mm. So I looked up on line, read so much about the Samyang 35mm, and then I read Duclos' analysis that claims it is actually a 30mm. Then I googled some more, and found your site.

It's interesting that you have a different perception of the lens. I read somewhere else that unlike the Samyang 85mm, this 35mm does not have a constant field of view, which means along the way, there are distortions. Having read yr analysis, now, I conclude that probably both of you are right, and that the glass mediates at 35mm-40mm.

Thanks for the answer cos I have just ordered the Samyang, and was thinking of canceling it if it was closer to 30mm. I already have the Zeiss 28mm, so no point getting glass that duplicates at the same range

The main difference about the 2 is the aperture (f/1.4 VS f/2)... if this is not an extremely important thing for you than go for the Zeiss.... The Zeiss is a very good lens, it won't disappoint you.

I will use this just for photos with Sony Alpha 900 in M42 mount with chip adapter. Ultimately, the Zeiss has better bohek, sharpness, weight, angle of view. Samyang has less CA, less vignetting, is faster. Is right?

The price is very good (I sold mine for €830)...... I would still get the Samyang because is faster (f/1.4 VS f/2). If you do a lot of video get the Samyang video version, for photos get the Zeiss.

This is some compeling information about the upcoming 5D iii/ 6D/ 5Dx or what ever they might call it even if not announced on February 7. Canon Rumors writes a High end body by end of month, February that is. CR3. Looks like either way the wait will not be much longer so stay in touch.

I do not believe it will sport a 36 mp sensor or that there will be 2 versions. I cannot believe that Sony will give them the 36 mp FF sensor until after they market the A99 and the A990. Nikon has not released the D400 yest which will have the 24mp APSC sensor because Sony has not had the A77 on the market long enough. They gave Nikon the 16mp FF because Nikon is using their new XQD media and the fact that it probably is not anything they wish to use as they go forward for higher resolution. I believe the D800 will use the 24mp sensor probably a little updated.
I believe that Nikon will announce 2 more cameras in the summer and fall. The D400 in the summer and the 36mp FF D4x in the late summer early fall. The D4x will probably not have a bayer filter.

The video version differs just for the smooth aperture ring...the rest stay the same... I think you can modify the lens youself..check for video on internet in how to do that.....
